Born and raised in Eritrea, Merhawit migrated to Canada in her early twenties and later became a Canadian citizen through naturalization. She brings with her a strong background in accounting, having worked as an auditor for the Inland Revenue Department at the Eritrean Ministry of Finance before her move.
Upon arriving in Canada, Merhawit faced challenges such as language barriers, cultural adjustment, and adapting to a new climate. Rather than discouraging her, these experiences strengthened her resilience and shaped her into a better version of herself. While working, she continued her education at Robertson College and the University of Winnipeg, further strengthening her knowledge of accounting. She also earned the designation of Canada-wide Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP).
Her career in Canada spans both related and unrelated accounting roles, Finance Clerk Finance Controller at Treaty One Development Corporation and Treaty One Nations Inc.
In addition, she co-owns M & G Tax and Accounting Services, where she provides tax and accounting expertise to clients.
In March 2025, Merhawit joined the No Limits team as Finance Manager, bringing with her diverse experience from both corporate and accounting firm environments.
Beyond her professional achievements, Merhawit’s proudest role is being a mother to her two lovely children, and alongside her supportive husband.
